What a way to kick off the week! I am completely captivated & excited to share this wedding! There is nothing I love more then imagery that without a doubt not only visually shows how emotionally charged a wedding is, but how incredibly fun it was too! Carrie Spindler & Devon Jaffier were married on August 13, 2011 in Rye, NY. As with most brides, Carrie had a specific vision in mind for her wedding, & from the very start sophistication was its name.
Carrie spied Devon for the first time back in 2005 while working out. At the time, Devon’s great physique did not escape Carrie, it was however, his generous head size, that struck Carrie! Finding herself, thinking about him quite a bit, unable to shake his image in her head, she jested with herself, let me not talk about this man, otherwise this bigheadded guy is going to end up being my husband! As it turned out, his head size will was only a small indicator of how large his heart was!
Keeping it old school & sticking to tradition, Carrie & Devon did not do a first look, seeing each other for the first time as she walked down the aisle!
Family is very important to both Carrie & Devon. Through out the wedding planning process, Carrie really wanted to celebrate & honor Devon’s Caribbean background. As it turns out, his mother is 1 of 17! The original plan that Carrie had had for her wedding, took a bit of a hit early on. The weight of a 150 person guest list, from the groom’s mother alone, Carrie had to change her way of thinking in order to achieve the look & feel she had originally started out with. She set out, searching the various wedding blogs & venues, hoping against all hope to find that perfect place that married the intimacy & warmth of a backyard wedding, while being able to accommodate their guest list. The wedding began with an emotional ceremony at lovely St. Bartholowmew’s.
At long last, Carrie found the perfect venue for their wedding, Wainwright House in Rye, NY. It is an old French Chateau that was dismantled and shipped to America to be rebuilt on the Hudson. With it’s traditional feel and tent covered in billowing white chiffon set in the backyard of the chateau, it couldn’t have been more perfect!
Carrie, owner & head baker of GoodieBox Bake Shop, naturally supplied all the tasty & luscious treats for her wedding. Not only are her various goodies lovely, I adore that as a baker who easily could have let the pressure of her own wedding weigh her down, she edited perfectly & produced refined elegant treats.
I also admire that when it came time to create her own wedding cake, she kept it simple & classy. Opting for a lovely white on white design, using simple lines & petite well placed sugar flowers, she added the perfect finishing touches with real small bud rose accents. I simply adore this cake.
Ever seen images of an event that just by looking at them, you know for a fact that just about every single person danced their butt off & had the time of their lives?! Want some hard evidence? Have a look at the incredible images below. I call this: The Break It Down Section! You can almost hear the music as you look through them!
An absolutely gorgeous wedding Carrie & Devon! Thank you so much sharing this wondrous time with us! We wish you both the best!
