To say I am sweet on today’s beautifully styled garden wedding shoot, from a collection of Ohio wedding vendor All-Stars, would be a pretty grand understatement.  At the heart of it all, this shoot from wedding planner and stylist McPherson Events & Design & wedding photographer Suzuran Photography is a laid back garden wedding in the suburbs of Ohio.  What makes it so truly special is just how chic every detail is.  Set in the intimate backyard garden of Denise McPherson, carefully tend to by her husband Jerry, the ‘room’ like design of the wandering garden gives a stunning playground for the crew to work with.  From the effortless boho wedding style to the use of vintage pieces throughout that glow anew with life, their polished take on a backyard garden wedding will easily inspire couple’s with a bounty of organic & enduring ideas.  While I desperately want to laundry list out each and every little detail that I am swooning over {grown with love potted guests gifts, food styling that is as much food as it is gorgeous decor, baroque style chalkboard signs, a hanging hankie wall, love brewing coffee table…!  but I digress…} a write up came along with the submission that so eloquently & lovingly explains each detail as well as the thought process that I would be remiss to re-write it in my own words.  Take it from me, there is so SO much to love in this garden wedding, with a heart string description to follow that will breathe life into the how.  Enjoy the treat and pin away!

McPherson Events & Design curated a Vintage Garden Styled Shoot inspired by their family’s heirloom vintage collection and their love of nature. Denise McPherson, founder of McPherson Events & Design, wanted to evoke a spirit of vintage elegance combined with the summer charm of an intimate backyard garden. The location was easy to find: her husband, Jerry, lovingly tends to their garden in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. It features a century barn, greenhouse, and pond.

Jackie and Philip, a true couple in love, and their friend, Mackenzie, effortlessly blended their own Bohemian and glam style into this stunning affair that was captured by Suzuran Photography. The couple was greeted at a vintage desk with letters that Denise wrote to them. The desk was accented with a vintage typewriter, books, and paper goods designed by Indie Foundry.

Jackie looked simply radiant in a timeless, vintage bridal gown with lavish layers of lace. Her floral crown was handcrafted by Mackenzie from Rust Belt Fairy Co. Her bouquet was freshly hand tied with verdant greenery and lush pink blooms of garden roses, gerbera daisies and sedum plucked from the lovely yard. These hues enhanced the color palette of soft blush, greens, and a sparkle of gold.

The guests started the celebration in the outdoor cocktail lounge. The area featured furniture handcrafted by Jerry and his son, Matthew, in Jerry’s barn including a bar, side table, and cocktail table. Philip made refreshing mojitos with handpicked mint from Jerry’s herb garden. The bar was dressed with tissue paper garland and set with cocktail collectibles. Chalkboard signage, succulents, galvanized and wood trays, pink straws, handmade “Cheers” tags tied with colored butcher’s twine on Mason jar glasses, and handcrafted pedestal of tree slices added rustic and whimsical touches. Megan, their daughter, helped create and style these creative details.

A side pallet table highlighted an assortment of local artisan produce, meats, cheeses, fruit, and salad in miniature Mason jars arranged on wooden slices. The table was accented with a rustic wire urn filled with succulents, gilded flags, and wooden soda crates filled with glassine bags of popcorn sealed with gold washi tape.

The couple was able to enjoy a meal together at the sweetheart pallet table with wooden chairs woven with streamers and accented with chalkboard signs. A rustic chandelier hung high above and provided ambiance under the canopy of branches. They were surrounded by natural beauty coupled with their own beauty of bliss and love.

An outdoor dining room was created in a cluster of maple trees draped with crisscrossing café lights. An antique mantle anchored the outdoor room. Urban Orchid Florist created gorgeous floral arrangements of blush blooms in a vintage champagne bucket that was placed on the mantle and in mercury glass pedestal goblets lining the moss runner on the dinner table. They brightened up an already sunny day! The mantle was further enhanced with a bow of flowing burlap ribbon with rosettes. The wooden table, refurbished by Yellow Door Goods, was set with pink and white heirloom china, sterling silverware, and a darling salt and pepper shakers from Jerry’s great-grandmother. Crystal goblets finished the table for a celebratory toast. A six-tiered naked cake was topped with pink roses and strawberries and set atop a grapevine and glass serving tray as the finishing touch to the dinner.

The charming dessert buffet featured miniature Mason jars with rich layers of cream, custard, and strawberries along with a cookies, tartlets, and candies. Denise found the silver tray at a yard sale while she was on vacation and added coats of chalkboard paint to create the “Love is Sweet” sign that is in the center of the delicious display of desserts. The sweet display was styled on a relative’s antique desk with hand painted china from Great Aunt Maude. Jerry handcrafted the dessert stands and picked flowers from his garden to add a pop of color in the desk drawers. Who could resist a macaroon in a vintage tea cup?

“Love is Brewing” was declared at the coffee bar. Beans from Nathan’s Coffee Roasting filled the L-O-V-E dishes and was brewed for coffee in vintage silver urn. Guests were able to select one of the antique cups from Jerry’s family that were placed on a golden chevron runner. The white table with lattice bottom contrasted against the softness of the abundant greenery.

Everyone enjoyed exploring the garden where little surprises and vignettes awaited them. They stopped at the collection of salvaged crates and distressed wooden columns strung with garlands and pictures. Guests swooned over the lush wild flower arrangement in the watering can and the potted seedlings meticulously selected from Jerry’s award-winning garden. The theme of love was reinforced again with the “Grown with Love” chalkboard signs in each pot.

As the sun began to set, an impromptu dance celebration broke out in front of the barn. It was the perfect summer day in the beginning chapter of the love story for Jackie and Philip.
