Art school cool. It sounds like something you say when you're trying to be clever, however being an art school alumni myself, I can attest, art school cool is indeed a very real thing! Easily sliding in to the world of all things hipster, an art school hipster wedding is pretty much the stuff that modern millennial dreams are made. During last fall's New York Bridal Fashion Week, Aisle Society & Minted hosted a gala that played off the very idea of diversity in the world of weddings, head on. Showcasing inspiration from a beach wedding brought to life complete with sand and palm trees, to a rustic mountain wedding filled with log seating weighing in the 100's of pounds. One faction of the diversity was a uniquely cool art school hipster wedding that paid homage to the collection of boho fair that might typically dress a room. From walls lined with indie art dripping in greens by Sachi Rose Design, to re-purposed trophy's that spoke to achievement, details like vintage vinyl and metal tables breathed life into the whole hipster wedding. In the spirit of oneness meets technology, an unique guest experience was set up via the Wending Machines, which allowed guests to hand select the very items they received as wedding gifts a la vending machine. Each moment was captured in perfectly moody detail...
Having just styled a chemistry wedding myself, my ears perked up a bit extra when this geology wedding hit my inbox! Pretty weddings are pretty, but there really is something to be said for those that have a unique vision and are articulated in such a meaningful and beautiful way! Inspired by the bride who cringes at lace and feels more at home with dirt under her french manicured nails, D.Lillian Photography put together what she calls The Geologist's Guide To Highway 1. The intimate and small setting was crafted with those in mind that love nature. Filled with delightful wedding decor that celebrates a geology wedding, details like a field guide book, camping lanterns, geodes, and potters plates add the perfect touches. In lieu of a traditional dessert display, our bride simply pops open her Outback, showcasing delicious treats upon her textbooks and supplies. The beauty to this geology wedding is that it celebrates something outside the wedding norm, all while proving to be equally as stylish and beautiful.

Today's wedding is extra special to me in a way that no other wedding ever could be. First and foremost, its the couple... my little sister and the one who finally stole her heart. Secondly, its their uniquely cool chemistry wedding theme that I had the pleasure of articulating for them in styling and florals. When I look back I realize how much their wedding was a true unintentional fingerprint of just who my sister and I are, two very different people. She, an engineer; myself, creatively minded. When Christy & James got engaged a million ideas started to flow about their wedding. Gatsby Gatsby, Art Deco!! Very quickly after exploring venues they realized that while they loved the idea, it wasn't them. Soon enough they knew the right choice, an organic chemistry wedding nestled into their very own backyard. Immediately following that decision came the science flavored shopping spree of beakers, test tubes, microscopes, vintage chemistry sets (complete with mercury, yes mercury!), pipettes, and so many more delicious items that I will allow you to discover on your own. While those wedding decor elements are amazing as is, Christy & James' have a pension for cool interior decor pieces in the home that we had our eye on. These vintage furniture pieces were immediately liberated from their home...

If you think your one year anniversary shouldn't be something to truly celebrate, today's unbelievably sweet loft wedding anniversary session will make you a believer! California wedding photographer Peterson Design & Photography went to task creating a unique little world for Marissa and Nathan to celebrate in at Pomona's The Loft on 2nd, with many of the details crafted by her own hand! The Loft on 2nd, an urban loft wedding venue that is flooded with light and filled with vintage furniture pieces, was a gorgeous backdrop, helping to direct the vintage wedding decor. Paper elements like tassel garlands & origami hearts paid perfect homage to the one year wedding anniversary gift of paper, while details like gold rim champagne flutes & wooden derived florals supplied the spunk! While the scene at this one year anniversary come styled loft wedding was quirky perfection, it was Marissa & Nathan's uncontainable sweetness that put it over the top! Perhaps this little gem will have your wheels turning when your own anniversary comes rolling around!
