It’s been a while since I’ve found myself not just with a face wide grin but literally chuckling out loud while making selections for a wedding.  Don’t get me wrong, each wedding I choose to share is lovely,  filled with delightful treats of beauty & heart, but some weddings more then others have an undeniable focus on family & fun.  Such is the case with the truly dynamic Austin Texas Camp Wedding of Cindy & Richard!  Parallel to their desire to express their love as a couple, Cindy & Richard wanted to craft a weekend long adventure that celebrated their family and friends in the most deliciously whimsical of ways.  Naturally the idea of a camp wedding was born, complete with custom wedding logo highlighting the weekend long activities of games, bonfires and the like, largely played out during the reception.  A bold color palette of red, blue & yellow further brought to life the camp wedding mentality, expressed beautifully in candle topped painted bottles that ran down the long reception tables.  What ensued is quite possibly one of the bigger wedding treats to be a voyeur of, from sweet moments between Cindy & Richard to the beautiful goofiness that was born with each budding competition.  As night fell, The Plant at Kyle  took on another form, one drenched in candle light & light strands, while live music, the original element that bounded our couple, played in the background.  The last piece to it all is the artful eye of Austin Texas wedding photographer J. Masciana Photography, who dared not let a playful moment go by!

Cindy is an incredibly fun, very active world traveler originally from a small town near Knoxville, Tennessee. She attended University of Tennessee for a bachelors and masters in Accounting and then lived in Seattle for 5 years before moving to Austin in 2013. Nothing can stop this woman. – Rick
Rick is the most attractive man I know! He wants to make a difference and I am the lucky woman that gets to conquer the world with him. – Cindy

We met while dancing the night away in 2012 at mutual friends wedding in Carmel Valley, CA. We reconnected during SXSW in 2013, music being the driver once again. We’ve been unseparable ever since. (Check out the timeline board in photos!) Rick proposed while we were hiking Cadillac Mountain in Maine in October 2014.  The overall theme was “Camp” and we even designed our own logo highlighting the weekend events.  The Plant at Kyle was a perfect mix of industrial modernism and Texas hill country.  We wanted our family and close friends to be participants in the wedding, so we planned games for everyone throughout. Everyone stayed at a ranch house in Wimberley, TX, close to the venue. The ceremony itself consisted of just us reciting our original vows to each other and the necessities being recited by Rick’s father, Richard. We also had Rick’s brother, Roem Baur, and Cindy’s best friend, Tyler Ellis, each play a song for us at different times during the day.

Favorite Moments ~ When Cindy walked down the aisle…it was magical. – Rick
The whole day was amazing…we titled our programs “The Best Day Ever” and it didn’t disappoint.
Dancing with my husband. 🙂 – Cindy
