Today’s Sun Valley Idaho wedding is super fun, a touch neon in palette and a dash of rustic and I must say, all you future rustic, brides, this neon favoring palette is just perfection!  Lindsy Newman & Justin Ward’s wedding is filled with gorgeous blooms, custom New Balance, old wagon’s & tons of sweet little details!  Bride, Lindsy Newman, wrote such a lovely introduction to her wedding, its truly a silly thing for me to sit here and rehash it all! I am going to let Lindsy’s post wedding glow carry us all into the gallery of their Sun Valley Idaho wedding!

“Our wedding would be considered rustic, shabby chic, whimsical, colorful, romantic, and personal.  Most of the flowers we used were whimsy colorful wildflowers. The location had a lot of character. We got married outside on the property of a private residence. There was an old covered wagon on the property as well as a rustic wooden horse wagon. We had antique wagon wheel chandeliers in our reception tent. All of my bridesmaids each wore a different shade of coral from dark to light to create an ombre effect. We had a unity tree ceremony. We had lawn games during cocktail hour (custom made bean bag toss and ladder ball). Our wedding reception dinner was served family style with a salad, a chicken pasta, and fresh wood fired pizzas served tableside. We had different flavored cupcakes and cake pops for dessert all served from birch wood platters. There were lots of candles and lanterns to provide romantic lighting. Our transportation for our guests was yellow school buses (because I’m a teacher!)”

Novella of the Bride…

Specialty Cocktails
Blushing Squeaks – vodka, fresh lime, club soda, and a splash of cranberry juice
Justin’s Sonic – gin, fresh lime, and equal parts club soda and tonic water

Justin and I met about 6 years ago when he first started working in the tasting room of a small winery called Laird Family Estate in Napa Valley, CA. My family belongs to the wine club and we went to the winery to pick up our club shipment. I knew right away that he was not only very handsome, but he was so genuine and kind. About a month later, I went back into the winery and got up the courage to ask him out on a wine tasting date. We have been together ever since then. Justin was born in England and has lived all over the country, most recently Richmond, VA before he moved to CA. I was born and raised in Tiburon, CA. We got engaged in Carmel, CA. We love to be outdoors. We love watching sports together, especially football. We are really competitive and we love to play all sorts of games from tennis to ladder ball. We love cooking together and traveling.

I have been going to Sun Valley, Idaho my whole life and I absolutely love everything about it! My father’s extended family is all from Idaho so it is a very important place for my family. Justin is very outdoorsy and I knew that he would absolutely love Sun Valley. He also loves to fly fish so Sun Valley was love at first sight for him! We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding and our favorite season is fall!  We really liked the idea of renting a private home for our wedding so we could really have the “creative license” to do all of the things we wanted to and incorporate all of our personal touches. When we first found the wedding site we were amazed! The house and property were gorgeous and all of the rustic details of the wagons and log buildings were exactly what we were looking for. The view from our actual ceremony site looked right out through the fall trees towards the mountains.

The overall feel of our wedding was very personal, romantic, and casual. We really wanted to just celebrate us and our families and our friends. As I mentioned above, we had lots of personal touches for our wedding. Justin and his groomsmen all wore custom made New Balance tennis shoes in our wedding colors (orange and brown). Each groomsman had his name sewn on one heel and our wedding date sewn on the other heel. I also wore my own pair of custom made New Balance tennis shoes and I incorporated blue in the fabric for my “something blue.” My nickname that Justin gave me, Squeaks, was sewn on one heel and our wedding date was sewn on the other heel. The archway under which we were married had garlands of colorful flowers as well as bunches of grapes to tie in the winery theme of where we met. My uncle was our officiant and we each wrote personal letters to each other which only my uncle read and then incorporated into our ceremony. We had a unity tree ceremony in which we each had a mason jar of water and we watered the tree together. When we walked down the aisle for the first time as husband and wife, our guests tossed rose petals at us. We had our signature cocktails and lawn games during the cocktail hour. Our reception tables were named after important places in the Sun Valley, Idaho area which had special meaning to us. Our dinner was casual family style with fresh wood oven fired pizzas served tableside. Our wedding favors were hand cut wooden “Sun Valley Sun” ornaments with our wedding date engraved on the back.

A Little Help From Their Friends ~ Both sides of our families were very important in the planning of our wedding. I did most of the personal touches and specific detailed planning myself. We hired a wedding planner, Amanda Seaward, to help us with our timeline and all of the big details for our wedding day.  Amanda and ALL of our wonderful vendors were amazing and they completely turned our dream into a reality.

Forever Moments ~ The second I stepped out of the house right before I was about to walk down the aisle, I looked all around and everything was exactly how I imagined! It was so gorgeous and bright and happy!  The moment I saw Justin I was just so in love and relaxed and completely in the moment. The ceremony was definitely my favorite moment that I will always remember vividly. It was so personal and emotional. I loved dancing the night away all night long! I would recommend tennis shoes to every bride – so comfortable and cute!!
