I love blender weddings, what I mean to say is a wedding that is a base of this, a sprinkle of that with a dash of a little something else.  Nestled sweetly into the Tennessee mountains, Tayloe Steedman & Chad Locke beautifully blended a few wedding notions into their barn wedding starting with a base of southern preppy.  The vista view barn setting at Myers Point perfectly lent itself to a rustic affair, while the mountain ranges surrounding them gave a pop of the air up there feel.  The result is a beautifully rustic preppy wedding that fully embraced its natural surroundings all while showing off its barn wedding roots.  Natural wood centerpieces, complete with bark, were focal points while a soft palette of navy & pale pink injected a youthful flavor as well as paying homage to breast cancer awareness, something dear to couple.  In true prep form, Chad, along with his groomsmen donned baby blue seersucker suits while Tayloe embodied the perfect southern bride complete with hair whipped into a chignon and a simple strand of pearls around her neck.  This wedding vibe mashup is a delightful spin on barn weddings, something that was all beautifully captured by wedding photographer Cortney Smith Photography.

Novella of the cigarettes shops Bride…

Chad is from Tullahoma, Tennessee and works as a radiology technologist in Montgomery, Alabama. Tayloe is from Athens, Georgia and works for the Southeastern Conference in Birmingham, Alabama. The couple met in Nashville, Tennessee through mutual friends in 2007. Chad & Tayloe lived in different cities for a few years while they both went back to school but eventually ended up in Birmingham together for the past two years. The couple got engaged in 2013 after Tayloe finished running the Chicago Marathon.

The overall theme was to be simple, rustic, and let the wedding venue speak for itself. We loved the beautiful scenery of the mountains in Tennessee and wanted to have a unique atmosphere that would be memorable.  One special touch was the groomsmen wore bow ties with breast cancer ribbons to honor several members of our family and friends affected by breast cancer (and more specifically one bridesmaid who was currently battling breast cancer).

Tayloe went to Sewanee: The University of the South, so it is a very special place to her. Chad is from Tennessee and had always wanted to get married in that area. Tayloe’s sister was married one year before in Athens, Georgia where the Steedman family is from so that contributed to the decision to move outside of the hometown since the wedding dates were only one year apart. The specific location of Myers Point was chosen because of its natural beauty and the unique view during the ceremony.

Favorite Moments ~ Our favorite moment was getting to have all of our closest family and friends all together at one time. We also enjoyed our first dance as it was a combination of two songs…started out slow (I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz) and ended with a much more upbeat song (PYT (Pretty Young Thing) by Michael Jackson).
