There is a new kid on the block, and she’ s not afraid to show her dark side. What am I referring to exactly? The color Black.
When the new collections were unveiled last week, something seemed quite familiar to me. How so you say?
Last summer I had the pleasure of being in my best friend’s wedding. You may have seen the post about the saucy American who married the Brit in Italy, well thats my girl! Her wedding dress was designer by the ever amazing Italian wedding dress designer Atelier Aimee. I had the pleasure of getting to go to their showroom while in Milan for Sarah’s final fitting. When I walked into the showroom, to be perfectly honest, my jaw dropped. The amount of utterly amazing, lovely, couture gowns filled my head almost knocking me dizzy! I quickly noted something that completely caught me off guard however. Black wedding dresses! I was in shock to be honest! Accents of color sure, but black wedding dresses?! After I came down from my initial shock, I began to realize how unbelievable gorgeous they were. Europeans, specifically Italians feel free and comfortable to alter the traditional image of a wedding. Allowing that perhaps wedding dresses can be more then a simple white dress. The use of black as much more then a strong accent color, or even the complete color of the dress was something that completely changed my view of a wedding dress. I find them romantic, enchanting, & sexy even. There is something about them that reflects the wearer & speaks to who they truly are. I love that more designers are jumping on this trend & I look forward to seeing brides donning these amazing dresses & stepping outside the lines of the traditional wedding.
