I have a serious thing for indoor furniture pulled outdoors to make wonderfully cool outdoor parlour spaces.  There is something so wrong yet so perfectly right about using interior furniture, outside!  When I first ran across Sarah & Paul’s Northern California wedding I was immediately drawn to all the little details, from gorgeous florals to vintage staging, I wasnt too surprised to learn that it was all under the helm of wedding coordinator Be Hitched!  Wanting to play off their gorgeous garden surroundings, this vintage wedding was crafted using an earthy color palette with pops of cobalt blue to set it all off. Their enchanted farmland surroundings were intermingled with farm wood style vintage tables & Victorian sofas evoking a true throwback feel.  The result is a wonderfully magical summer’s day effect, one where if you listen hard enough, you can still hear the echoes of jazz drifting with the breeze!

Novella of the Bride…

Paul proposed on Catalina Island in Southern California. I’d spent the 30 minutes before bemoaning the fact that he was making me climb a huge hill. At the top, however, was a panoramic view of the ocean and the idyllic town below. Paul set up his tripod, took a few practice photos, and then was down on one knee next to me as the camera clicked. It was the best surprise, and in the photos taken right after, we are glowing.

We knew we wanted to get married in Northern California because that’s where we met, where we live, and where a large subset of the invites would be coming from. After combing venues in the area, the Point Reyes Seashore Lodge in the sleepy town of Olema felt like the perfect combination of natural splendor and convenience. We got married in the back garden, a sprawling green area hemmed in by a small creek. There were flowers blooming and our Chuppah stood near a willow. We ended up going with more earthy hues and blue as our color palate, seeking to build on the natural landscape.

As we worked on design elements, we kept coming back to the idea that our friends and family were what really made the event for us, this conglomeration of individuals from different aspects of our separate lives intermingling with each other and celebrating with us. Paul came up with the idea of laser engraving an image of a tree on a large corkboard and then laser cutting individual coasters with each person’s name (which double as escort cards) out of this image. In this way, the coasters are unique on their own but together form something larger and special to us, much like the wedding itself. We wanted the decor to feel understated and natural, so we went with simple lavender and wheat grass tied to the side of the chairs down the aisle, table numbers on cork in white frames, and a wood guestbook. We worked to incorporate aspects of our family histories, like Paul’s clover cuff links for his grandmother and Irish heritage and the same Chuppah covering as my parents used roughly 30 years before.

The day really came together to be even more magical and meaningful than we could have imagined. The vendors such as The Speakeasies jazz band, DJ Niko, and Elyse at Willow Floral made the venue come alive, and our incredible planner Rebecca at Be Hitched Coordination and amazing photographer Dakarai at Apollo Fotografie worked tirelessly throughout the planning process and event to execute our vision and create an absolutely memorable experience. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and dancing. A favorite moment of mine was when Paul and I snuck away to a nearby field across the creek for some photos at sunset–it was a great moment to reflect (though I am glad in hindsight that we did not spent too much time chasing the cows in the field, as they turned out to be bulls). The day was perfect.
