To kick off our Fashion Week we headed down to a land I havent visited in some time…. Soho. Sigh, I miss Soho. Walking just a few blocks through the neighborhood on the way to the show really made me wish I hadnt stayed away for so long! I cant wait for those gorgeous spring days that will soon be heading our way, as I am defiantly going to be strolling through the hood again!
Lauren & her people had a different vision for their show then your standard runway affair. Opting instead to feature her Fall 2012 Collection at The Old School House. Walking in and unsure what to expect, I was very pleasantly greeted & surprised with what essentially was a lifestyle performance piece. Guests were invited to walk around the school house treating them to a full 360 view of the designs.
A few rooms of the school were set up and perfectly styled to reflect an old school house. No detail was missed & quite frankly a lot of great decor styling was on display. There are so many ideas here one could easily take a spin off of & use for your own affairs ladies! Corkboards pins with simple book pages, an old school typewriter complete with lines of text typed out. If science was more your thing, not to worry, beakers filled of vibrant colors had their moment as well! One could easily sample the book page idea, taking some of their most favorite and treasured love story pages, use the type writer as a proper vs asking guests to actually type onto it. I’ve heard many a time that guest struggle with this & often elect to not use it as a result. Save yourself & your guest the frustration & simply use one as a gorgeous prop!
While the fashions at the Lauren Moffatt show were utterly adorable & I must say there are definitely a few pieces I’ll be after, how exactly can we apply this to the wedding world? As regards the fashions themselves, for those having more laid back rehearsal dinners, some of these outfits are simply perfect!
Hair & make-up however is always something that can be applied to everyone, everywhere. The look & feel for the show was young & fresh faced. Eyes were treated with simple light mauve shadows & thin coats of mascara. Lips were dotted with soft pinks & mauves while cheeks were kissed with honey roses. If your a bride who’s looking for a very natural fresh face look, then these are defiantly some great places to start!
The dominating hair style was a swept back pony tail that was loosely wrapped with the models own hair. Rather then keeping the look too tight & sleek, the stylist allowed the hair to almost slightly unwrap itself creating a more ‘I just tossed my hair up’ kind of look. The ponies themselves where given equal treatment, slightly teasing & ruffing up the hair to create an unpolished more textured look. While this direct look might not work perfectly for most brides, it is a great potential look on bridesmaids!

As a whole the Lauren Moffatt show was full of freshness & natural beauty. Any bride that wants to keep their look along these lines should use these gorgeous models as a jumping off point for their complete wedding day look!
