Ocean views & chic surroundings, what more could a gal want in a dreamy spot to say ‘I Do’!   Finding one of their mutual loves in the ocean, Alexis Hunt & Hunter Rowe knew that they wanted the majestic beauty of coastline as their backdrop yet a location that was chic & sophisticated.  The Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort turned out to be just such a perfect location, offering up a gorgeous grassy special space just large enough to host an intimate wedding along the coastline.  Alexis was wonderfully stunning in a ruched gown while donning the most full & gorgeous elbow length veil.  The ladies wore bright & fun short dresses from J.Crew in periwinkle with nude pumps while the boys were all sharp in tuxes and sunglasses of course!  Alexis & Hunter are the perfect picture, beautiful & classic with all the right touches!

Novella of the Bride…

Wedding Buzzwords– Beachy, DIY, Whimsical
Specialty Cocktail– Sweet Tea Vodka Lemonade & Margarita Madness

Hunter and I met 9 years ago while on vacation at Huntington Beach. Sparks flew and we have been together ever since. We love being outdoors, travelling and spending time at the beach. We both work in La Jolla in San Diego and absolutely love where we live.

It was very important to us to be outside, and at the beach. This has been an important part of our entire relationship and we feel at home and like ourselves at the beach with a relaxed atmosphere. The Carlsbad Inn was just perfect for us. We were able to fit 100 chairs at the grass area and the scenery is unbeatable. We wanted a small area that felt intimate and made us feel comfortable. Cassie at the Carlsbad Inn was amazing, and supplied everything we needed to put our own spin on the day. We had a table with waters, beer and wine for the ceremony for all of the guests and the reception was only 2 miles up the road. It was very important for us to feel like we could take pictures where we got married and our guests could get to the reception easily. We didn’t want to have any time wasted and this venue supplied all of that.

Our ceremony overlooked the beach in Carlsbad on a grassy area. We played Jack Johnson’s ‘Better Together’ when I walked down the aisle and Bruno Mars ‘I Think I Want To Marry You’ for the recessional. We gave our own vows and had a very close friend get ordained to marry us and tailored the entire ceremony to us. We had 100 guests at our wedding and every single person was dearly important to us and it made the entire day so relaxed and special. The most important thing to us was dancing and making sure it was a true celebration of us versus jumping through the traditional hoops at a wedding where you have hardly any time at all to enjoy it for yourself. We had our favorite restaurant cater for us, Phil’s BBQ. It was just what we wanted and a fun way to shake things up from being super formal. We did a candy station that was a hit for party favors and also had a bag of smores at each place setting that said, ‘Smore Love’. The smore packages were for the firepit right outside the reception room. There was a spectacular sunset that we saw through our floor to celing 15 ft glass walls of our reception room at the Carlsbad Seapointe. Everything was perfect.

A Little Help From Their Friends– My mother in law is an amazing florist and did all of the flowers, bridesmaids, groom, my mother and I all helped with the flowers the days before the wedding. I had a friend from work help us with day of blips that come up at weddings and to help direct seating, book signing, anything we needed. It was nice to have a familiar face there to help. My sister Katie did my hair and makeup. She is an extremely talented hair stylist in La Jolla, and this was a real treat to have her on my team.

Bride’s Favorite Moment: “The best part of our wedding was dancing the night away with our best friends and closest family. Saying our own vows was really special as well.”
