Storyboard Wedding Why It Works Wednesday

One of my favorite things to come out of the ever widening exposure to the wedding world is the breaking away from the more standard traditional type bridesmaid style of dresses.  The doors have opened up on everything from playing with textures to prints to mixing & matching, you name it!   I could not be more thrilled with how brides are playing with their inner fashionista these days!  In effort to keep that record spinning round, I want to highlight some unique non-traditional styles that are wonderfully divine for this years lovely fetes!

Before we jump into the goods, lets chat about why these non-traditional dresses are becoming such a force to be reckoned with.  First and foremost, whether you realize it or not, your bridal party helps to set the tone for the look & feel of your day.  In essence they are almost like a palette for you to work from…. cover them all in red satin dresses and you know your in for a more traditional cookie cutter wedding.  Dress them up in chic lace baby blue dresses with killer heels finished with sweet updos and your curiosity is peeked as to what else is going on under the hood of the wedding.  The beauty to the non-traditional bridesmaid dress however is in the ease to finding them {anywhere from Old Navy to Bergdorf Goodman!} as well as the true reality which is that these lovely frock actually can be worn again by your ladies after the wedding!  I  love when I hear people trying to convince themselves or others that a traditional dress can be worn again.  You can cut it, you can dye but no matter what, they always end up looking like a bridesmaid dress, it simply is what it is.

The dresses below are some wonderfully fun choices, short to long, body hugging to free flowing maxis.  Lace, polka dots, bold prints & more.  Each image is linked to its shop so you can learn more about the dress or even purchase them.  Any dress can take on its own life with the right shoes, the right accessories & so much more.  The dress is a starting point, its how you present it all that really gets your fashion message across.  I implore brides to keep looking toward non-traditional choices, let your creativity shine and let your girls be happy to purchase something they love!
