A lovely ceremony spot of a find in the form of a private home from the early 1900’s.  A whimsical pop up tent to carry the guest through the celebration.  This classic New London, Connecticut wedding from Robyn Blasi Photography, hits some New England wedding high notes with its traditional touches and cape like feel.  Gentle details in navy & yellow bring to life this late spring wedding, which even was meet with some April showers, not stopping the celebration in any way!    Classic &  simply lovely, this Connecticut wedding is a upstate little dream!

Novella of the Bride…

Jacob and I live in New Zealand (we’re originally from England) so arranging a wedding from such a long distance was not an easy feat. We wanted an original and natural wedding that wasn’t scripted, overly arranged, or too formal. We wanted an event that would enable everyone to come together from around the world in a relaxed and loving atmosphere. Our guests travelled from far and wide; France, England, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and Germany. It was so wonderful having them all there in one place to celebrate the wedding.

We wanted to have a civil ceremony that was also unique to us. Fortunately, Jacob’s grandmother is a judge so we were able to have a colleague of her’s conduct the ceremony. He was extremely accommodating and we had Skype sessions to determine the structure and requirements of the day. It turned out to be wonderful – with simple readings from friends and relatives and heartfelt vows.  Food is important to us and so was the location. Luckily we were able to use a beautiful early 1900’s house, owned by Jacob’s aunt in the town of New London. We decided to set up a tent outside using the services of A Thyme to Cook (a wonderful catering company based in North Stonington).

We arranged decorations via Etsy and my mother and I created some decorations together (she made bunting, burlap table runners and bags and even distressed some IKEA lanterns to suit our wedding colors). I made labels for bags and table plans. The food was delicious and I was conscientious that as a vegetarian both meat eaters and non meat eaters should be happy. We had delicious polenta, stuffed mushrooms and chicken. The red velvet wedding cake at the end was delicious and we were enjoying it for breakfast the next day!
