With a love for fall but a desire for a more chic wedding day, Melanie Dickey & Benjamin Wright teamed up with the crew at Modern Vintage Events to bring their rustic glam Nashville wedding to life!  Working with the beautifully renovated warehouse space of Houston Station, the design team set tables with a mix of alternating chevron & gold sequin runners.  Tables were set with vintage china & flatware while each table was finished with distressed wood boxes filled with floral centerpieces.  Accents of mixed vintage bottles, mercury glass & mason jars were also added to the tables as well as found throughout the venue tying everything together beautifully for the perfect rustic glam wedding.  For the ceremony, vintage boxes and branches were brought  in for some rustic drama while the aisle was lined with pumpkins painted silver & gold.  This Nashville fete is a sweet departure from your typical autumn affair, embracing a slightly more earth bound color palette and keeping things on the chic side with pops of metallic shine & sparkle!

Novella of the Bride…

Wedding Buzzwords: Festive, Rustic, Classic, Fun, & Classy
Specialty Cocktail: Kentucky Gentleman & Cranberry Kiss

Ben and I met and quickly fell in love in the summer of 2010. We both knew after our second date that we were meant to be. We had an instant connection and just fit. We dated for 2 years as Melanie finished graduate school. We got engaged in March 2012 and marriend in November 2012.

Ben and I are both from the midwest but have lived in Nashville for many years. We met and fell in love in Nashville so it seemed natural for us to get married here. We were attending the Village Chapel at the time and were so fortunate that our church made for such a beautiful backdrop. I visited Houston Station before our engagement and immediately knew that when the time came, it would be the perfect place to celebrate our wedding.

We wanted everything about our wedding to reflect us as individuals and as a couple. We had many rustic elements such as the wooden boxes on our tables, pumpkins, flowers, whiskey barrels, mason jars and barbecue. We also made sure to incoporate more elegant touches such as using heirloom china on the head table, chevron and sequined table runners, mercury class and Italian Cafe lights. We wanted to be sure to give our guests a heap of southern hospitality and charm and show everyone a good time by having a band and a lot of dancing.

A Little Help From Their Friends ~ We both have very supportive families and a great Nashville community. Melanie’s mom made several trips to Nashville to help make decisions on the venue and décor and to be sure last minute details were finalized. Our dear friend and church small group leader, John Thompson officiated the ceremony. Ben and I both have a love for music, and being in Music City, it was very important to us to have all live music throughout our day. We are so blessed to be friends with many talented musicians. Our friends Kelley Groover, Michelle Thompson and Jeffrey East performed some original songs as well as some of our favorite songs making our ceremony even more personal and meaningful.

The Couple’s Favorite Moment ~

Melanie – My favorite moment of the day was walking down the aisle and looking up at Ben. The feeling of being surrounded by all of the people I love most in the world and who want only the best for us is indescribable. It’s the moment every little girl imagines and one I will carry in my heart forever. Ben–  Seeing Melanie coming down the aisle. His second favorite moment was our meal. We planned a very southern barbecue that was down home, yet gourmet and elegant.
