It’s just incredible how stepping into Portland’s Sentinel Hotel transports you back in time. Its art deco style evokes visions of lavish parties and the luxurious glitz and classic glamour of Gilded Age in the US. The boutique hotel inspired Rachel Salisbury Photography and stylist Katie Walten to create a fun time machine of sorts through this shoot, and thanks to Rachel’s dashing photos, we get to experience a glittering Jay Gatsby-esque affair.
Jewel toned reds and black initially make their way to the forefront (check out that Custom Cakes By Krystle creation), but hints of soft pink and metallic shimmer make their push in. Katie kept the florals lush and tremendous, using eye-catching blooms like white ranunculus and oxblood chrysanthemum for some drama. Indubitably, when you’re working with the Jazz Age as your design choice, you’ve got to go big or go home, and this impressive shoot lived up to that.
