If you’re of the mind set that a smashing wedding filled with sweet little design details on a limited budget is something that simply can not be done, you have not yet to see the mountain wedding of Roxy Tanase & Jacob Frey.  Though budget conscious weddings aren’t our focus, every now and again one comes across my desk that I love to share.  Nestled into a special childhood locale for Jake, the couple said ‘I Do’ at the edge of a small lake within the Sierra Nevada Mountain range while guests were seated on handmade wood benches from a friend.  Bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces and the like were crafted integrating local wildflowers while handmade paper detailing in the form of paper roses & fans injected a whimsical and vibrant touch.  From Anthropologie dresses to Ted Baker groomsmen wear, the wedding fashion was another highlight, with Roxy’s Claire Pettibone Clover Dress setting the most perfect of rustic boho vibe for all.  With a gorgeous vista view, small intricate detailing and an eye on whimsical trends, this mountain wedding is a true treat!

Novella of the Bride…

The look was a minimalist, work with nature as your decoration. The special touch was using antlers from deer that Jake and his dad hunted while growing up in the area and incorporating them as centerpieces. I also used Baby’s breath flowers and bees wax candles from local San Jose Candle Co. to have feminine meet masculine as the overall feel.  It was on a Wednesday, middle of the week, middle of nowhere. Whimsical. Masculine meets feminine. Good representation of both Jake and I. Very intimate. Kind of destination because people came early, stayed later, rented cabins, camped, hiked, explored!  This secret location has always been a special spot for jake growing up, and it became special to me when he shared it with me once we started dating. We both love the outdoors and being secluded in nature, and this is the spot to be! He also proposed on that mountain behind the lake where our ceremony was. Its just a beautiful serene place.

A Little Help From Their Friends ~  All my friends and most family are so talented! My bridesmaid Wendy hand painted a big banner that we hung over the fireplace. My other bridesmaid Erin and my friend Karlee made beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres for the guys. Jakes mom put together a great collage of us growing up. Jake and his dad cut inch thick rounds from a native pine that were used in the center pieces. Jake’s sister Michala brought wildflowers that we used around the lodge. Jakes aunt Melanie made beautiful paper roses and fans that were also used throughout the lodge with the wedding colors. Gabe let us borrow 15-20 handmade benches by his dad that we set up at the ceremony site.

Favorite Moments ~ My most favorite moment was during the ceremony, where the pastor asked Jake and I to take a moment and be still and look out at our intimate gathering of close family and friends and out at the lake and remember it, because the whole day will be a blurr once its over. I still remember taking that time and feeling the peace, the sun, the breeze, Jake’s hands, the lake and everyone’s smiling faces.
