Fall and rain usually don’t elicit the best images for us. We just imagine the air to nip at us and the looming, total desire to stay indoors with a warm beverage. BUT we do change our minds when something amazing really grabs our attention and that something was Colleen and Luke’s rainy Seattle fall winery wedding.
Alexandra Knight Photography shared her most coveted images of the day and we have to say that her expertise makes the gray-shrouded day captivating. She made good use of the brilliant yellow and red foliage in JM Cellars‘ courtyard, and that pop of color transformed the photography and the day, ultimately. Luckily for the newlywed hosts and their guests, they were all comfortably shielded indoors. Being at a winery, the couple opted for rustic romance with navy blue and sage green as their top shades. They kept the floral to a minimum, selecting only greenery for their tables and highlighting the intimate space with votive candles. The execution for Colleen and Luke’s October wedding was flawless.
How did you meet?
We matched on Tinder and after our first date he didn’t think I liked him, mainly because I failed to tell him I would be in Switzerland so my responses were very delayed. Fast forward a few months and we re-connected and the rest is history.
What is your proposal story?
We were in Ireland for a friend’s wedding and on my birthday we visited Blarney Castle. We went up to the top to kiss the Blarney Stone and while I was taking my time looking around, he had raced to the top to talk to the guys that work there about filming the proposal. He goes first to kiss the stone then it’s my turn and as I pop up, he is down on one knee with a ring. After I said yes, the guys working the top said this was bell ringing worthy and so they rang the bell at the top of Blarney Castle.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
The most important thing to us was that we wanted everybody to have fun. We skipped the cutting of the cake and splurged on the Shutter Bus.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Our first look; our ceremony; (my brother in law performed the service and he did an amazing job); our first dance; and lastly the party! It was an amazing night celebrating with family and friends.
