From the word ‘YES’,  Angela Woltermann knew exactly how she wanted her wedding to RJ Jameson to look and feel.  Harboring a deep love for all things swoony vintage, Angela spent the last year slowly accruing classic elements that would bring her vision to life.  Antique bottles, window frames, vintage maps & novels ultimately filled the room all a part of great DIY project that produced so many wonderful details!  Succulent book planters, as well as petite succulents pales were smattered around bringing a lovely earthy feel to the day while bold yellow blooms provided pops of energy & spirit!  Angela herself was an utter vision, beautifully encompassing the modern come vintage bride.  Donning a perfectly form fitting lace wedding dress that hugged each curve to perfection, her hair & makeup were gorgeously done in a retro style completing her journey back to a by gone era.  I have a feeling quite a few brides to be are going to adore this hair style not to mention the succulent overload to this gorgeous fete!  Even though the skies opened up and a bit of rain fell, Angela & RJ were as happy as could be all the same!  From the vibrant decor to our sweet couple’s beaming smiles, your going to crush all over this one!

Novella of the Bride…

RJ, the groom, is a helicopter pilot in the Navy. He will go on his first deployment in February. He attended college at the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he also played football. I am a Registered Nurse in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at a Children’s Hospital local to our current home. I received my Bachelor’s in Nursing at the University of Cincinnati. RJ and I met when I was a Senior in college and he came home to visit his parents while waiting to start flight school, we were introduced by a few mutual friends and seemed to “click” right away. For someone who didn’t ever believe in fate or a movie plot kind of love, our story has proved me wrong!

My overall theme was Vintage/Classic. I’ve always loved the vintage look and knew right away this was what my wedding would look like. For a year or so I began collecting vintage and antique items to complete the overall look I wanted for my wedding. Some ideas and inspirations I had gotten from wedding blogs, other objects I found randomly and knew I wanted to tie them into the wedding decor somehow. A year later my garage and house were filled with antique bottles, window frames, post cards, and books. The hardest part was bringing it all together, especially since we lived almost 5 hours from our wedding site. I mostly had to go by pictures of the venue that I had taken and a seating chart. With my family 16 hours away and only myself and my hardworking husband, I was doing almost all of the organizing and planning. It may have been time consuming and there were a few times close to wedding day where I wanted to just cry and give up, but I knew that in the end I would be so proud of myself for planning my wedding the way I had wanted it to be. It was a very gratifying experience being able to see all of my hard work and endless hours of DIY projects and antique shopping come together for my big day. I was so proud to answer “I made that” or “I planned it” to anyone who asked about the wedding. I would have to say one of my favorite special touches of the wedding was surprising my Dad with a cake for his birthday, which was the day before the wedding. As far as decor, one of my favorite touches were the DIY book planters. I saw them on Green Wedding Shoes and absolutely loved the idea! My florist was very helpful and supportive of the idea. I bought all of the vintage books and cut squares in them, and my florist planted the flowers. She did such an amazing job!

It’s an ironic story {how we came to find our venue for the wedding}, I happened to see wedding photos at the Powel Crosley Estate while looking for a photographer and fell in love with it’s beautiful architecture and history. The drive wasn’t long and it gave a lot of our friends and families the opportunity to plan a summer vacation. When we went to view the Estate, we found out that it was named after it’s original owner and the famous Cincinnatian Powel Crosley, which it turns out is where myself and my family grew up. After I discovered this, I knew instantly that I wanted my big day to be celebrated there!

My husband helped as much as he could, which I appreciated to the fullest. I also received help a week before the wedding from my twin sister and best friend, Ashley. On the days leading up to and day of our wedding, my entire wedding party (groomsmen included) helped out with anything and everything I needed along with my mother and mother in-law and other friends and family members. It was almost overwhelming to see the amazing support and offers of help that I had received over our wedding weekend. There was a tropical storm on our wedding day, and it was planned to be an outside event, everyone was so helpful with moving everything and re-organizing for me while I was getting my hair and makeup done. We even had a few amazing friends and family members bring guests from their car to the Estate with an umbrella service!

Bride’s Favorite Moment: “Undoubtedly the moment where my sister and maid of honor’s speech was a beautiful song by one of my favorite bands The Beatles called Let It Be. My bridesmaid and best friend since high school Amy played guitar. I couldn’t have imagined a better speech, it was so beautiful and definitely caught me by surprise!”

The Extra Bit: “If you’ve been wondering or are curious about my seating chart I made it out of a vintage inspired map, string, and burlap. I collected vintage post cards from all over the world and placed them on the tables to coincide with the map seating chart. I used scrap booking eyelets to secure the strings to the map and looped them around to connect to the names. I also used a parachute stamp and embossed it to the map. I scrapbook for fun and learned these techniques from my various scrap booking projects. I wanted an easy and unique way for guests to find their seats instead of the typical numbers you tend to see at weddings. I also thought the postcards and map tied nicely into my vintage theme.”
