Brooke, Matt, and their sweet boy rocked their vintage photo session as they spun around in the setting sun with Mindy Hulett. This New York couple’s vintage photo session was a perfect metaphor for their long, 11-year love story!

How did you meet?

High school sweethearts! We met in gym class. We were both so competitive – so competitive that he gave me welts playing wiffleball. But somehow still won me over.

What is your proposal story?

We always talked about our future and getting married, so we both knew it was already a done deal. He gave me the ring on April Fool’s Day! I yelled at him and said TODAY of all days?! But I honestly wouldn’t have expected anything different coming from him. I still ask him daily if he can ever be serious. My only request was that he asked my father’s permission, so we waited until he had the courage to make it official.

Tell us about the ring/band.

Our photographer, Mindy, had a vision – we followed suit. It was perfect–vintage – just like our 11 year old love story. We laid in the road and then ran around a little, all while dodging a few cars and laughing at how awkward we were, just like we did as kids in high school. Throwing in the mix of chasing around our little toddler was fun too! Mindy was so patient with our son and even kept him entertained! I opened the box to find a perfect dainty, square princess cut diamond, framed with a square of smaller diamonds. With small detailing and additional diamonds around the band.

What gets more vintage than old band tees and Chuck Taylor’s? I don’t know if Matthew’s mullet counts for an accessory, but it definitely helped pull everything together.
