Weddings by the water have a that little something extra special.  Nautical weddings especially harness the power & magic that is the beauty of being surrounded by water.  Suzi Brock & Brendon Augustine channeled the essence of all things beachy in their upscale nautical wedding hosted at New Jersey’s Mallard Island Yacht Club.  With a venue that offered 180 degree water views, the couple opted to keep things decor light taking a cue from beach glass hues & light billowy blooms to bring just the right touches to their surroundings.  Bridesmaids donned a mix of Donna Morgan bridesmaid dresses in aptly named Beach Glass while a trio of flower girls pretty much sealed the deal in the young beauty department.  Suzi & Brendon saved the best location of all for their ceremony, a cozy stone mantled locale at the end of a long pier, offering an all encompassing nautical space.  After the ceremony guests headed to a gorgeous ballroom filled with brushed golds & robin’s egg ceilings while tables with topped with candle filled lanterns & monkey knot table numbers.  On hand to beautifully capture each special moment, New Jersey wedding photographer Off BEET Productions , rendered each special moment between Suzi & Brendon a dreamy nautical vision.

Novella of the Bride…

Bren and I met while working at Yahoo!. We flirted over IM and awkward cubicle conversations and our love sparked at a U2 concert so we tell people we were basically set up by Bono. Shortly after date 1 I moved into his Brother and wife’s apartment that they owned (they were moving out) and Bren said it was all part of his plan, 1 ask me out, 2 get me into a legally binding contract with his family. It worked. I knew from date one that I would never have to go on a first date again. Bren is the absolute love of my life, soul mate. He wasn’t looking to settle down at the time and he says he got sneak attacked by me. Two years later he proposed in Vermont while canoeing down the most beautiful river. My family was on the side and my sisters were holding a sign that said “Suzi Cannon will you marry me?.” Debauchery insued as we almost tipped, I cried, and I dropped the paddle. It was perfect. We make each other laugh all the time and I think that’s one of the most imporatant things in our relationship.  Bren makes me feel loved every day which I know he learned from watching his parents and I could not be happier to be Mrs. Brendon Augustine.

The overall theme was beachy with natural, neutral tones. Nothing was over the top as I wanted the beautiful setting to take center stage. I draw, so I designed our invitations, programs, and place cards with an awesome lady by the name of Kat at Lee’s Art Shop in NYC. That was a very special touch to have elements that I drew.  The chapel was another favorite of mine.  It’s in the middle of the water so when you stand at the podium and look left and right it feels like you are out on the water. I am a beach bum so I loved that.  We decorated the mantle very romantic and beachy with candles and white hydrangea. We had them play “all you need is love” by the Beatles (I love the beatles) as the bridal party walked down the aisle, each turned to me and said something right before they walked, that moment with that music in the background was so special.

Favorite Moments ~ Is all of it an appropriate answer? I have two. My father kept the song he picked for us to dance to a secret, that dance meant everything to me.  I actually just asked my husband, “what was your favorite moment of our wedding,” and he said, “you. done. next question.” haha. My second was seeing Bren, it was a blur, and it was awesome.   Ok there are 3, the morning of my wedding I woke up and my sister (who I stayed with that night) had decorated the hotel room with like 40 balloons and every balloon had a pic of Bren and started playing Going to the Chapel (my sisters each made an awesome mix of wedding songs), there was a note from Bren on the door, and  my older sister showed up so excited. That moment with my sisters there right before it all began was so special.
