On a sandy beach, under the palm trees of Mexico, wedding planner Anna of Mango Weddings pulled together a crisp and clean wedding design for her clients. Wanting to cherish and celebrate the beach of Saasil Kantenah in Riviera Maya, the choices made were specifically crafted to enhance and celebrate the location’s natural beauty in both the day and night.
Cherry Blossom Decor and Florals lined the tables with simple vases of white and light pink flowers, a refined addition to the palm tree jungle at the beach. The classic and simple cake created by Zaisa Marcos, embellished purely by white flowers, provided guests with an unforgettable 2 tier surprise of banana nut, cream cheese frosting and red velvet to revel about for days after. Loho Bride was the perfect vendor that made the bride say ‘yes’ to the simple silk open back gown that would provide her with a gown to compliment the couples dream destination wedding, without getting too bothered with the heat. Elevina Pasquotti’s videography captured the couple’s tropical beach wedding as they danced the night away with their loved ones. The couple loves to relive the event through Elevina’s keen eye for snapping magical moments. When vendors can create the perfect vision that the couple only dreamed of, it’s surely a memory they’ll want to play over and over again.
How did you meet?
We met on the beach in Los Angeles through a mutual friend.
What is your proposal story?
I was traveling on a work trip in May to Germany and Nino came to meet me during the end of my work week. We were heading to Munich for the weekend and stopped for a picnic along side of the Starnberger See. We ended up renting a boat to take around the lake and Nino proposed to me in the middle of lake. The sun was shinning and the Alps were in the background. It could’ve have been more perfect!
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.
We wanted to keep the colors clean and crisp looking with all white and a hit on light pink and greenery. We knew that we wanted a beach wedding and wanted to take advantage of the natural beauty of the beach setting.
Tell us about your attire choices.
I chose my dress because I wanted something fairly light that I wouldn’t be too hot in. I absolutely loved the open back and simple silk dress look which was cut on the bias. Honestly, I didn’t care about my shoes too much as I knew I’d be taking them off. For my husband, we had a suit custom made and wanted him in a color that was still formal but not black. We went with a dark blue that is different from your standard navy blue. His shoes were a black velvet loafer.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
We really wanted to be able to have a really fun party with great music to dance to and delicious food! With that you obviously need an open bar too! Our entire wedding party was on the dance floor the entire night which was a huge success! We didn’t skip anything but decided to hire a saxophonist to play for 2 sets and he was absolutely amazing! He definitely stepped the dance floor up a notch!
What were your favorite parts of the day?
We absolutely loved dancing the night away on the beach with our closest family and friends.
Tell us about your wedding flowers.
I had a vision of wanting white and light pink flowers in smaller vases up and down the tables. I really didn’t want to overspend on flowers as we wanted to take advantage of the natural beauty of the beach.
Tell us about your wedding cake.
Our wedding cake was very simple but classy looking.. white decorated with flowers and delicious!!!
What did you do for favors?
The wedding cake was 2 tiered with banana nut and cream cheese frosting and my husbands favorite, red velvet! All of our guests still talk about how delicious our cake was!
Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.
We had drink koozies made that we loved at the bar for guests to take. One side they said “to have and to hold, and to keep your cerveza cold”, and we had the date of our wedding and a Palm tree on the other side.
Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?
We had a semi religious ceremony led by a very close family friend. Prior to the wedding, she asked both of us separately to send her an email answering the following questions “what made you fall in love with the other”, “when did you know that they were the one for you”. She then read this during the ceremony and it was so special to hear what the other had to say.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
Try not to stress out too much about it because it will all work out in the end. Definitely hire a wedding planner because they are the experts at this and make the process a lot easier! Definitely spend the extra money on a videographer as we have loved getting to watch the night over again. Make sure to be very specific with the photographer on who you want photos with and where you want them taken.
