This gothic glam inspired shoot came from a mutual love of all things dark and alternative. Leaning into their edgy creative sides, all of the vendors let loose to explore the dark and glamorous. Set in Laguna Beach, the venue Seven7Seven is a gorgeous villa-esque site complete with lush surrounding greens that feature a gentle hillside waterfall. The buildings onsite are softly aged and look fabulous in the setting sun as it falls behind the nearby hillside into the Pacific Ocean.

What was your design inspiration?

My inspiration for this shoot came from a love of all things dark and alternative. I wanted to show those types of brides that there is a way to combine edgier designs with wedding glamour. We went for dark florals and dark rentals but in a beautiful, romantic setting. The ceremony space is very much lush and green but with added elements of burning sage, a glass skull, etc we help to really add those alternative elements

Describe your cake.

The Wild Whisk filled our sweets table with dark, gothic treats such as individual dark chocolate mousse, chocolate-covered strawberries, double chocolate cookies, and a black-colored cake. Each with a bit of glam added through the form of edible gold sheets, golden sprinkles, and florals.

Tell us about your attire choices.

Lilia and Jon, our couple, are wearing their exact wedding outfits from 2 years prior. Her black, midnight-colored gown was lovingly handcrafted for her by her own mother which she paired with anonyx crystal crown. Meanwhile, he cuts a striking figure in his all-black tux paired with an enamel bat pin on his tie for that extra dark feature.

Describe the tablescape elements.

Running down the center of our table, surrounding the dark floral centerpieces, are dark fruit, berries, and meats for guests to nibble at much like the olden days of long ago. I wanted to go for a dark, more medieval look and so we accented these features with dark glassware, plates, and utensils.
