Country club preppy gets a bit of a make over today, making things modern & fresh while being injected with sharp navy & crisp citrus tones and a vintage nod! The plan was to create a more modern world, with clean lines and delicate styling that would infuse the day with the energy and spirit of a more youthful whimsy. Touches like sliced limes playfully popped in and out of the florals while sweet vintage elements like pale green cookies, vintage lollipops & sodas even the bride’s Breakfast At Tiffany’s inspired updo give the perfect in trend retro feel. Why have just one flower girl & ring bearer when you can have 2 of each! The children are real stars, utterly adorable in their perfect preppy dress not to mention their youthful exuberance! The final piece was to take the party out of the country club quite literally, stepping out from the typical indoor setting, to under the swaying arms of the giant trees. Dining al fresco, the team was able to capture that country club feel without the stuffy indoor setting, setting the table with gorgeous gold chiavari chairs, deep blue plates, and the perfect short centerpieces. Bands of stripes run throughout the design, tying everything together as well as injecting the perfect amount of stylish whimsy from the seat cushions and lollis to the cake bands & bow ties! I love the citrus touches, both literally as well as in color palette, and the simple act of moving things outdoors, frees up that old country club mentality and making it something new and fresh!
A Note From The Design Team…
The inspiration for this shoot was to have a charming preppy styled Country Club wedding with a palette encompassing navy, cream and citrus hues. Our vision was to create something fresh, contemporary and fun with clean lines and fabulous details. The vibrant green hills sprawling across the pristine golf course at Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow MA, served as the perfect venue. Our alluring ladies looked positively stunning in the gorgeous bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses courtesy of Pearl Bridal. The stylists at Oksana Salon & Spa fashioned wondrous up-dos — at once reminiscent of both Breakfast at Tiffany’s and a striking Kate Spade editorial. The gents too were looking dapper having been expertly outfitted by the inimitable Jackson & Connor. With the fabulous styling skills of Bonnie Aunchman of Aunchman Events, both the tabletop design and the children’s wardrobe selections were perfect, looking tailored yet whimsical. Our dessert table was laden with all kinds of delectable goodies including old time lollipops; lime infused cookies and refreshingly tart lemonade accented with chevron paper straws. The table also served as stage for the dramatic buttercream cake with striped ribbon detailing and charming blossom frosted cupcakes, compliments of Gregory’s Pastry Shop. All of the beautiful florals, from bouquets to boutineers were the understated elegant creations of Amy Tyler Design. Furthering the preppy, classic style, the invites, menus and table numbers were impeccably designed by Essentials. No country club wedding would be complete without some swoon worthy gems and our two couples each sported their own outstanding set of bands and engagement rings thanks to Lorilil Jewelers. This styled shoot was full of summer fun; from the frolicking children, to fresh lemonade, cupcakes, blue skies and of course the sweet scent of freshly cut grass perfuming the breeze. It was a dream to direct and photograph this marvelous Country Club Wedding.
