I’ll be the first to admit, I’m floored each and every time I come across a couple who has known one another & dated since childhood. Its such an incredible thing to me, to be seated next to your soulmate from the very start. Grace & Carlo are the sweetest example of just that, love that lasted from a very young age. Meeting all the way back in kindergarten, going on a ‘first date’ in 8th grade, its fair to say these two evolved through life together in such a beautiful way. For their Winnipeg wedding, the duo opted for the stylish Fort Garry Hotel as their backdrop, allowing their modern romantic day to bloom. Details like suspended geometric shapes, lush dripping greens, a candle light reception and marble accenting might be the elements that catch your eye, its the couple’s incredible wedding fashion that does it for us! A Pronovias wedding dress that fits as if it were quite literally made right upon Grace and groom fashion that is right out of GQ, I dare you not to eat up it all up. True there are many things to love about this Winnipeg wedding, it is however the portrait sessions by wedding photographer Sambajoy in the greenhouse that leave us love struck, though, its pretty hard to beat the classroom bridal party sequence! Much love for this incredibly stylish Winnipeg wedding, classic, ever so romantic and all kinds of timeless perfection.
Novella of the Bride
To quote Hank Moody (from Californication), “I don’t know. I don’t think I’ve very know. I think sometimes you get it right the first time and then it defines your life. It becomes who you are.”
Carlo and I met at a very young age; we attended the same school from kindergarten to grade 8.
In grade 8 we started “dating”. At such a young age it was more of a title than anything. Our “first date” we watched the very first Austin Powers movie and sat 2 rows away from each other. Many years passed and we grew as individuals and our relationship matured. At a young age we figured out that it only took a slice to realize we loved the whole cake.
People are always shocked when they find out that we’ve been together since grade 8. But looking back on all those years together, we can’t recall a time where we could’ve imaged our lives without the other in it.
I got a job that required me to move away – and with very little consideration, Carlo moved to be with me. He then moved back home after 4 years and similarly, I quit my job to be with him.
Carlo and I got married at the church that is attached to the private school we both attending. It was an obvious choice for us; it was a full circle to be married at the place we initially met.
We picked Fort Garry for our reception for the obvious reason that it is a beautiful venue. The moment I saw the atrium with its natural lighting and glass blocks, I was sold. The hotel is elegant and regal, and was large enough to allowed for our very big families to celebrate.
Lastly, my parents also had their wedding at the Fort Garry Hotel – so added to the sentiment of the location.
