Maine natives Sarah and Zach didn’t want to stray too far away from where they first met in Kennebunkport. They brought in a small group of their nearest and dearest for a classic and moody intimate wedding in Acadia National Park and the views are unreal. How magical and moving it must be to overlook such natural beauty while saying your vows and your closest loved ones are cheering you on!

The pair subsequently celebrated with their tribe at an indoor reception at Bar Harbor Inn with perfectly paired autumnal decor for their November wedding day. Along with glorious couple moments, Kayla Kinney Photography took a multitude of stunning shots of warm-colored florals by Bad Rabbit Flowers and a riveting wedding dress by Willowby that we wish we had in our closet for a rainy day. Pin this one for the emotion and the style for sure.

How did you meet?

Zach and I met in 2001 while we were working at a local brewpub in Kennebunkport. I had been working there for a few years when Zach was hired into the kitchen, and as soon as he showed up he was being referred to as “hot kitchen guy” by most of the female front of house staff. The competition was stiff, but I managed to, somehow, trick him into a date. We spent that first date drinking beers on the beach under the stars, and were attached at the hip from then on.

What is your proposal story?

Zach proposed on the same beach, in the same spot that we had our first date. It was perfect, and magical and he totally took me by surprise.

What were your favorite parts of the day?

I hate to be that person, but literally the entire thing was perfect. We spent the whole day smiling and laughing with each other, and our friends and families. Zach’s brother Josh wrote and officiated our ceremony and it was more than we could have ever dreamed. In true form, I couldn’t wait for Josh to finish the last line of the vows and jumped the gun on “I do” which made for a great photo and story!

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

Follow your hearts and plan the wedding that you and your partner really want. This day is about celebrating your love for each other, so surround yourselves with the people who will let you live in the moment and focus on that.
