The English royals have enchanted all of us, especially with their stunning world event wedding, where the outside world was brought indoors for all to enjoy creating a magical spring wedding.  Wanting to harness that same magic, Bethany Richards & Joey Selage took a cue from the royal wedding, creating an English Garden infused New Jersey wedding where blooms were brought indoors via terra cotta & metal pots.  The overall effect was an indoor garden in a wash of baby blues, lilac, springy greens & mixed cream at Trump National Golf Course, a place that Joey felt right at home as he works for the Golf Channel!  Naturally a traditional indoor church ceremony was the perfect English accouterments to this New Jersey wedding, one that embodies everything we love about classic weddings.  The last piece of the puzzle was New Jersey wedding photographer Vanessa Joy Photography, who gorgeouslu captured each moment of Bethany & Joey’s day, harnessing some of that special royal magic!

Novella of the Bride...

Buzzwords – Timeless, English garden, Sophisticated Elegance
Specialty Cocktails – Pimms + Dark & Stormy

We met at a wedding in upstate New York. After dancing the night away, he kissed me before flying back home to Florida. For two and a half years, we dated long distance between New Jersey and Florida with the help of Sunday Night Songs — he sent me a link and a message every Sunday. In 2012, Joey finally moved into my little NYC apartment. In July of  2012, he proposed while we were on holiday in England, and the rest is history…

I was inspired by the Royal Wedding, and the idea of bringing the garden inside, so we arranged our flowers in terra cotta and metal pots. Our Reverend had me answer questions about Joey, and Joey about me, and incorporated our answers into the ceremony, keeping the mood light and very personal for us. We wanted an air of sophisticated elegance and timeless beauty, and the overall theme was English Garden.  Per tradition, the wedding took place in my hometown. The choice of Trump National was an effort to make sure that Joey felt included in the process, since he works for the Golf Channel. It didn’t hurt that it was breathtakingly beautiful, and ours was the only wedding all day. To cap it all off, the sunset was the most stunning of all time!

A Little Help From Their Friends ~  My Mum was a great help during the planning. Since I was working full time in the city, it fell to her to find and book many aspects of the wedding (after I OK’ed the choices, of course!) I also could not have kept sane on the day without my bridesmaids and maid-of-honor. They kept me in a bubble of happiness and didn’t let anything bother me.
